So long time no post! The nice new camera I got, AKA my new phone, needed repairs shortly after my review of Hibiki, so I haven't been motivated to downgrade back down to my actual camera.
As I was looking through my pictures...I realized I had taken pictures for a mini-review and hadn't done it, so I thought I'd write up a quick one today.

So the subject for today is the original nendoroid Kaito. I also own the Cheerful Japan version, so I will talk about the differences a bit as well.
Starting off, he's definitely nicer than what I expected! The quality of this Kaito was pretty much on par with the newer release as well. I sort of expected lesser quality as Good Smile has definitely made a lot of improvements. Admittedly, the only nendoroids I see significant quality difference in are my Rin and Len.
He comes with a decent amount of accessories that make for fun posing.

This face is personally my favorite. My headcanon Kaito is a goofball/fun-loving kind of guy, and I think it portrays that really well!
Though I find this face hilarious, I pretty much have to admit that I never use it.
And now some notes on differences between this version and the Cheerful Japan version. Just to prepare you guys a bit ahead of time, the reason I didn't do side-by-sides is actually because I've customized my other Kaito into a Sakura Kaito theme. I thought it'd look silly that way and I didn't want to mislead anyone into thinking that my custom is an official variant or anything!

So one of the biggest differences for me are of course the stands. To be honest, as frustrating as the arm stands can be sometimes, I am so glad they switched. Kaito falls off the little round stand a lot. It doesn't hold his feet and weight well.
The Cheerful Japan version also comes with a lot of bonus stuff in comparison. An extra body, pom-poms, little paper headbands, fans, gloved hands, and even a postcard! All of this in addition to what the original came with.
My recommendation would be the Cheerful Japan version as they usually are close in price and the bit extra is very much worth it. You CAN put the head of the original on the cheering squad body, but the head and scarf are fairly loose. I'm not sure if it's just mine, or if they're just different in terms of manufacturing.
Overall, I give the original Kaito nendoroid a 9/10
The quality is great, and my only real problem is the stand. That really isn't a fault in the figure itself, but just in the stands they were using at the time.
In my totally not-biased-at-all opinion on the Cheerful Japan version, a full 10/10 for the better stand and addition of many new accessories while keeping in the old ones as well.
